How to Keep Skiing This Spring

Go to the snow!

Go to the snow!

The winter can be great, even for people who aren’t fans of the cold weather. When the mercury drops in the thermometer, the weather definitely gets more interesting – sometimes this weather is dangerous, but it can also be fun. With snow on the ground, you can finally take your skis out, push down those sleds, and throw a few snowballs.

But what happens when you finally get used to the cold weather and the air starts warming up again? Can you give up some of your favorite activities like skiing? You don’t have to. In this article, I’ll show you how you can keep skiing – even through spring. Here are a few tips.

1. Follow the snow.

Just because the snow is gone from your area doesn’t mean it’s gone everywhere. You can follow the snow up mountains (looking for a ski resort at a higher altitude) or simply search for ski hills that use artificial snow to keep their business going through some of the spring months. Simply follow the snow and you’ll be able to keep your skiing habit alive and kicking.

2. Watch the weather.

The snow isn’t always predictable, and just because there’s grass on the ground in early March doesn’t mean there won’t be snow on the ground in late March. So keep an eye on the weather and look for weekends when the snow might possibly pile up again. These weekends can be like the last “gasps” of winter, and if you know when they’re coming, you’ll be ready for a good skiing weekend.

3. Take advantage of discounts.

With spring come less customers to ski hills, and with less customers come lower prices. Take advantage of these skiing incentives and really use these low prices. Milk spring for all of the skiing that it’s worth, and you’ll feel that you really had a good run before some of the warmer summer sports start to kick in.

In order to watch these discounts, keep an eye on advertisements or even simply call up local ski hills and ask them if they have any specials going. If they don’t have any specials going, ask if they’ll give you one. Don’t expect to get anything, but it doesn’t hurt to ask, right?

Just because the grass is getting greener doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy some great skiing. Just make sure to do a little research and preparation and you know exactly how you can keep skiing even as the weather warms up. Just be sure that you also enjoy your summer!
