Gorilla Tubes For Your iPod/iPhone |
A couple of months ago, I was contacted by a company in Germany. They had a case for iPods and iPhones that they thought I should see it. I’m not usually one to ski to music (even with the gloves and ear muffs from 180). However, I thought I should review it anyway. Maybe if it’s really good, I’ll start skiing to music more. The product the company showed me was called a Gorilla Tube… probably because it’s made of gorilla strong carbon fiber. I could write a lot of words about it, but why not watch this short video
As you can see it’s a very simple case. I almost hesitate to call it a case, they are right to call it a tube. The strap confused me. Without having seen the video above, I didn’t know how it would work. To make sure it was really going to work, I put my iPod in it over my couch. This way if it slipped through the tube it would have a soft landing. Well it worked very much as it does in the video. I say “very much”, because it wasn’t exactly like the video. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but if you held the case upside-down, the iPod would fall out. In the video, it looks like you can shake it up and down. That’s not much of a downside for me because I’d keep it in a pocket which would avoid it from being put upside-down. Having seen the video, I’d give it another shot, but my wife has our iPod on a business trip and won’t be back for awhile.
It is as tough as it looks. It feels like it’s bullet-proof. Also the strap makes it easy to use while wearing skiing gloves.
I’m told all cases are handmade and they are they ship all the way from Berlin. You can order yours at Gorilla Cases.
